Happily Guilty

The day I first saw you
The moment you walked through those doors
The very instant you sat beside me, I knew.
I knew, I'd never fall in love again.

As you sat at the table across me
As you enjoyed your cup of coffee
As you killed me with your occasional glances, I knew.
I knew there'd be no place for another girl in my life.

The day we said our vows
The day we said 'I do'
The day we exchanged rings, I knew.
I knew it was the most important day in my life.

I never knew I'd be proven otherwise.
My thoughts and beliefs lay shattered;
I feel guilty yet overwhelmingly ecstatic,
As I hold our newborn daughter in my arms.
