The Tamil month of Margazhi is famous for its music uthsavams, Andal’s Thirupavai and early morning kolams. Kolams / rangolis are design markings created on the ground surface with rice powder, limestone powder, brick red powder or even flower petals. Kolams are traditional to the Indian subcontinent and has various forms such as suzhi kolam, pulli (Dot) kolam, free hand kolam etc.


Following the success of last year, Sapthavarna is again conducting Margazhi Kolothsavam - Global Online Kolam / Rangoli Contest. 

Join our contest and showcase your kolam/rangoli across the globe!
Rules
  1. The contest runs between 07-Jan-2023 and 18th-Jan-2023.
  2. The participants can send their Kolam/rangoli photos/videos by filling the registration form.
  3. Participants MUST submit the Registration form. Entries will not be accepted via whatspp or other social media platforms.
  4. A confirmation email will be sent once your registration is successfully submitted.
  5. There are 5 categories in which entries will be accepted. 
  6. Categories for Kolothsavam contest:

    1. Suzhi/ sikku kolam​

    2. Dot kolam

    3. Mana kolam/ Padi kolam

    4. Free hand Rangoli

    5. Kolam Crafts - Make a craft/ creative home decor with kolam or rangoli and share the procedure or video of making with us. For eg, Kundan Rangoli, Kolam painting on canvas, kolam on coasters etc.

  7. One person can submit a MAXIMUM of 5 entries.
  8. The participant may choose to submit one entry in each category or submit more than one entry in a given category. However, only 5 submissions will be accepted in total. 
  9. Participants must choose the right category while submitting the registration form.
  10. The organisers have the right to change the entry to appropriate category in case you have selected an incorrect category.
  11. Participants can upload upto three photos per entry. Make sure your photos are clear .
  12. Photos submitted must include initial sketch or dots, one half-done photo and one completed Kolam/ Rangoli.
  13. Note that entries without half-done photo Will NOT be accepted. You must submit atleast one half-done photo and one complete photo.
  14. If you have more than 5 photos, make it a collage but there MUST be atleast one photo of full kolam /rangoli without collage.
  15. You can optionally upload a video maximum of 2mins (YouTube/Google Drive, etc.) and provide the link while submitting your entry. Ensure that you grant access to your video.
  16. The Competition will be judged by a panel of eminent judges. 
  17. The Judges' decision will be final.
  18. Results will be announced in the website. 
  19. The Winners will also be invited for our virtual award ceremony in association with Slough Tamil Sanghamam, UK and it will be zoomed live on Slough Tamil Sanghamam Facebook page and Sapthavarna Page.
