INTRO

At the age of 80, I am proud to say that it's my 20th year to display the Golu in my hometown of Nemathanpatti village in the Kanadukathan region (UNESCO HERITAGE), Tamil Nadu. It started with a few pieces and this year (2023) my display has crossed over 500 statues. I have a collection from different states and also from Malaysia. The set of Gods of 'Health, Wealth and Prosperity'. the Laughing Buddha, the Money Tree and Prosperity Water Fountain are from China. With the growing number of statues and increasing number of visitors everyday, in recent years, the display is at the Karpaga Vinayagar Temple, Nemathanpatti in order to accomodate the crowd. During the entire Golu period, an average of 400 visitors come everyday from nearby villages and appreciate the display and take blessings. I also organize prasadam every evening to all the visitors. To motivate children to come and join this religious event and take blessings, I have added some motorised car and train track display and also give gifts to children, such as note books and stationery for their school use. In order to respect everyone's interest, the Golu is on a general theme. Many have prayed for marriage to happen or baby to be born, and when they are blessed with it, the following year, they would present few statues, and with growing popularity, the number of statues on display have been steadily increasing.
