This year, the annual Golu celebration in our home was not just a tradition but a vibrant tribute to the enduring spirit of Women Power. At the heart of our meticulously arranged display was the divine presence of Ma Katyayani, an incarnation of Durga and is shown to exhibit courage. Known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Devi. In this avatar, Katyayani rides a lion and is a form of Parvati, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. This year, we chose to portray the essence of a quaint village Amman temple, encapsulating the simplicity and sanctity of rural life. Nestled beside Durga were nine other Devi’s, each representing a facet of femininity, strength and courage. The Golu was not just a tableau of devotion, but a harmonious blend of spirituality and culture. To enrich the experience, we dedicated sections to the revered deities of Vaishnavism and Shaivism, showcasing the unity in diversity of our rich religious heritage. What truly set our Golu apart was the enchanting light and music show that accompanied the divine display. As the lights danced to the melodious tunes of “Aigiri Nandini”, visitors were captivated by the divine aura and left with a newfound appreciation for the essence of Women Power that resonated throughout our home. Ma, the epitome of love, perseverance and strength. A power that breaks the barriers and challenges through her resilience and determination to celebrate and champion each other’s successes. On this special occasion let us all join our hands together to create a future where every individual feels loved, cared, seen, heard and valued for who they are.
