My mother in law has been keeping golu for the last 35 years and I took over from her 3 years ago. I wanted to do something very different at the same time connected to divinity, hence my theme was temple. I b fan with making the golu padi itself like a a gopuram with all the bommais looking like the sculpture we see on our temples. The main deity in the Sannidhi is Sri Lakshminarayana Perumal. We belong to Lakshminarayana Puram in Kalpathy, Palakkad and it was divine grace that Perumal came to us. Since he was the main deity in the golu Sannidhi, we made a theru from scratch. It is an almost replica of the Theru in our gramam. Around the temple a dance concert is in progress with some audience enjoying it. We have also kept a Navagraham that people are doing pradakshina around. Most of our temples have a goshala so there is a small goshala with statues of Radha and Krishna onlooking them.
We have also tried to create an atmosphere of a temple premises by making miniature shops that sell sarees, bangles, Pooja items, vegetables, and groceries. The biggest hit was the tea shop selling miniature sweets.
In the shared video, my sister in law Vidya Harikrishna, who is a singer-actor, is singing Devi Neeye Thunai.
Hope you all like our diving offering.
