This is Sujatha from Singapore. I am very passionate about celebrating Navarathri and have been keeping thematic Golu for the past 14 years. I usually choose a theme from Hindu mythology.
This year , our theme is -Sacred Rivers of India - The Saptha Nader .
Inspired from the shloka
“गङ्गे च यमुने चैव गोदावरि सरस्वति ।
नर्मदे सिन्धु कावेरि जलेऽस्मिन् संनिधिं कुरु ॥”
We have showcased the following :
1- India map with mountains and rivers with a focus on the 7 sacred rivers in Hindu Mythology.
2- A working model of The Ganga - depicting the Gangotri glacier and the river flowing and merging with the Bay of Bengal.
3- The entire India map is handmade and constructed using recycled newspaper paper mache and sculptamold.
4- A story for each of the sacred rivers.
5- A diorama of some of the rivers of the world . We have tried to depict them using different textural effects.
6- Our kuthuvilakkus have adorned the avatar of Radha and Krishna this year.
7- Nine forms of Devi on top and the three Devis - Parvati , Lakshmi and Saraswathi and Lord Ganesha.
8- The 7 step traditional Golu.
9- A 3 step side Golu showcasing the different forms of Lord Vishnu on 2 steps ; and
10- Chettiar’s with their shop showcasing various traditional vessels and appliances apart from the grocery and vegetables and a few other small sellers.
We hope you enjoy our Golu as much as we enjoyed showcasing it ! Many thanks to Sapthavarna Creations and Slough Tamil Sangham for providing us with this opportunity to showcase our Golu!
We wish you all and your families a very happy Navarathri 2022!
