INTRO

I am Preethi and I live in Colorado, USA. It is always been a dream to start a Golu on my own and wear my creative hat. I started Keeping Golu in 2021.

Theme of my golu for this year 2024 is Shiva-Parvathi , Vishnu-Lakshmi, Southern State dances of India and Southern States couples, Old vs Modern cooking and Zoo based on that I have created handmade dolls representing each one.

Shiva - I have created 63 Nayanmars by hand-painting peg dolls.

Parvathi - I hand created Saravana Poigai (birth of Muruga story) with dolls.

Vishnu - I hand made and hand painted Puri Jagganath / Balaram/ Subhadhra on a coaster.

Lakshmi - I hand made the house, young Adhishankar and lady for the kanagadhara stotram story.

I have converted a Tic Tac Toe game as kolam board by adding kolam mdf.

Kitchen - Old cooking vs Modern cooking / food/ habits

Zoo animals with Coffee and Popcorn cart on the entrance of the zoo

My backdrop represents the theme with Kerala mural painting of Shiva-Parvathi and Vishnu-Lakshmi. The backdrop on the side has Tanjore dancing doll which represents the dance theme.
