INTRO

This is our 13th year setting up Bommala Koluvu (golu). We always try to have two themes, one traditional indian and one western. This time, with the Olympics happening in 2024 and 2028 Olympics coming to USA, we created the Olympic games and Indian traditional village games as our themes.
We also keep the traditional seven step, as well as a few other traditional dolls. We make this a friends and family affair, and everyone contributes what they can, and what they want. This time, with the sports theme, everyone was very excited, and all the kids helped with painting the dolls, and they learned about the village games we played growing up.
We handmade the dolls in the parade of nations, with matching pants having 5 olympic rings, and shirts with flag colors. We also made the basketball court, tennis and badminton courts, as well as the gymnastics equipment. All the athletes were hand painted. Some of the dolls were designed and custom made by artists in India, and some scenes used traditional kondapalli golu dolls.
