We, the Jayashankar family from Chennai keeping traditional Golu with a theme for the past 15 years. All our themes are from our puranas depicting stories and incidents conveying morals like guru bakthi, friendship, anbe sivam, sacrifice, sat sangam etc. This year the theme of our golu is ஈசனுடன் பசு பக்ஷிகள் - meaning lord shiva and animals. We have chosen sixteen siva temples in and around Tamilnadu and taken the sthala puranas in which how animals workship Siva in their own way. The video will explain them. We hand made all the siva lingams and using origami made spider and the web, ants, bees. etc.
Our Golu always follow tradition with nine steps arranging the godly dolls and other dolls appropriately. We dress up the koothu vilaku with appropriate attair - all hand stitched. We made colourful rangoli kolam too.
We also have park with village scene depicting greenery. We too have the Mysore Dasara procession.
Our objective of keeping Golu every year is to make the visitor understand depth of morals conveyed in our ithikasa and puranas by the way of appropriate stories incidents.
