We’ve been celebrating Golu at our home for about 6 years now and every year we’ve made sure to have an out of the box and completely innovative Navaratri. This year we’ve based our golu on the theme of a mountain with a Ganesha temple at the top. We made our mountain by first making a golu step frame out of plywood, rocks out of paper wrapped with cloth, and finally cement. We gave the color using spray cans and saw dust colored green giving those little hues of greenery. On the side, we have a strip of handmade creations based on Indian festivals starting from January to December, all dolls, the majority of them hand-made, dressed for the occasion.
