Hi, We have been celebrating Navarathri with Golu for more than 4 generations. We have been maintaining more than 35 sets, pair dolls and more than 45 individual dolls including 100 year old dolls like Ramar barnasalai, Markandeya Katharulal, Lord Balaji, Lord Murugan etc. After my great grand mother, grand mother, my mother has been buying, maintaining dolls properly with more care and efforts for many years and I too have the same level of interest in keeping golu.
In recent years, me and my sibling have been doing some models like village, market etc. This time we did zoo, kids park, temple pond. Also we designed and hand stitched a dress to our most traditional Marapachi doll which resembles a bride and groom.
For me, the real joy of Navarathri is devotion towards God, recalling our memories by watching and enjoying the beauty of those handcrafted dolls from our artisans for these whole 10 days. Happy Navarathri😊.
